Middle October, we went for dinner at the restaurant Lokschuppen by Julia Komp (the chef) in Köln Mühlheim. The restaurant is in an abandoned industrial area.
...the entrance.
Modern and clean design, although...
...this (artificial) flower arrangement could be definitely improved. Or real flower, or just a candle - but artificial flowers is always a big NO!
The cutlerie.
Bread and tomato butter.
The amuse bouche, based on cucumber and passionfruit.
As first dish, bio shrimps from Guiana, watermelon, kohlrabi and yuzu. Nice sauce!
Pairing with the first dish, a glass of 2018 Saar Riesling from Nik Weis.
As second dish, okonomiyaki style, egg, cabbage, katsuobushi.
Paring very nicely with the dish, a glass of 2017 Pinot Blanc Wehlener Klosterberg from Markus Molitor.
As main dish...
...monkfish, wasabi, horseradish, lilac sweet potato.
With the monkfish, a glass of Chardonnay Schweigen from Weingut friedrich Becker.
The pre-dessert: shisha, grape and mint.
...effect :-)
Dessert time: prune, cardamom, joghurt.
With the dessert, a glass of 2019 Brachetto d'Acqui from Braida di Giacomo Bologna.
...a praliné for each.
We got quite disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. We missed the wow effect in the dishes, the plating was not really nice (with exception of the first dish and the pre-dessert) and the service was not good (perhaps because it was when the restaurants were reopening again, after Covid?). Overall, it was not a great experience, and we decided to not try it again.
The restaurant closed its doors in June 2021.
Oct 9th, 2020.
