In our last night in South Germany, we had dinner at restaurant Pavo✨from chef Simon Schlachter, in Pfronten. The
location is amazing and the food fantastic. We loved it!!
The restaurant is at the Falkenstein. The road is controlled by a traffic light: in a hour, there is only a 15 minutes slot for cars to go up, so we plan accordingly. What a view from the top!
...boutique hotel!
View to the ruins of the Falkenstein Castle - the highest castle in Germany. Ludwig II had plans to build a fairy tale castle but with his death, it never took place. The location is just amazing!
Selfie time! Cheeeeese!
The tables are in a round cocoon format: you have privacy but they are on a level that you can also enjoy the view.
All the dishes are made to share. They come in the middle of the table, and you share the portions. Starting with the appetizers: chip of rice, aioli and duxelles
Trout, elderberry and celery.
With the first selection of dishes, a glass of 2020 Rotgipfler from Weingut Fischer.
Bean salad, quinoa, parsley.
As third dishes: bao bun, pulled pork, bbq (excellente!) and...
...langoustine, fennel and wild asparagus. So full of flavour, loved it!
Paring with the third selection of starters, a glass of 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses from Jean Chartron.
...butter, different salts...
Time for the main dishes! Pastrami, focaccia and tartar sauce.
The Beef - bavatte, brocolis, mango,
coriander. Sooooo good!
With the main dishes, a glass of 2019 Peyre Blanche Rouge Cairanne from Chateau de Beaucastel.
On my way to toilet, got a glimpse of the sunset. Such a beautiful view!
Peach, joghurt and parsil.
Caneles.
And the Schwarzwaelder Kirsch 3.0.
Pairing with the dessert, a glass of 2018 Riesling Spaetlese from Weingut Müllen.
Had to go out again to enjoy this...
Amazing food, great wine and...
...incredible view: always a joy to be back!
Waiting for the traffic light to go down the road.
