On Friday, morning, we went to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. Roger stayed in the hotel working (he had some meetings to attend) and we went full tourist mode :-D
Waiting for the carriage that will take us up to the castle. Love how all buildings have beautiful flowers at the windows, it makes it so pretty!
You can go up the castle by bus, by walk (40 min uphill) or by carriage.
The carriages have an electric engine, so the horses do not have to carry the whole weight up. Germany has very strict rules for the welfare of the animals, and that's really good.
Schwangau from the top, with view to the Forggensee.
The castle. So impressive!
Selfie, girls!
After the photos session, we went to the castle's courtyard to wait for our tour time at 9h20. I booked the tour online months in advance, to ensure that we would get tickets at all and that we would be having the tour on a good time (I did not really wanted in the middle of the day). Tickets can be bought here.
Tip: in the end of the visit, the coffee shop inside the castle is
supposed to give access to the balcony in the backside from the castle and have a great view. We missed it, as I read it only afterwards :-)
After the visit, we went for a walk in direction to Marienbrücken. Stop to take a picture of the castle from behind.
Smile :-)
The idea was, after the castle visit and after going on the Marienbrücke, to walk down via the Pöllat gorge hike. But unfortunately it was closed. So we took a picture of the Marienbrücke from another angle and went back the same way we came.
In our way back to the castle (and before taking the carriage to go back again), the beautiful view of the Alpsee, the Hohenschwangau Castle and our hotel in the middle :-D
Such a beautiful place!
