Restaurant Session (in Vreeland, Netherlands): De Nederlanden

Restaurant De Nederlanden ✨, from chef Wilco Berends. The restaurant has two areas: one more cozier and...

...one full of light with a more modern deco.
 
I like the bread plate.

As aperitif, a glass of Campagne Brut Blanc de Blancs from Roger Manceaux.
 
Followed by some amuse bouche.

Clear bloody mary.
 
Cones of feta cheese, watermelon and olives.

Peanut cookie.
 
As second amuse bouche, carrote cream, coconut foam and crisps of chicken skin and cashew. Soooo good!
 
Breat, butter and olive oil.
 
We started with a signature dish: North Sea crab with citrus, soy and oyster.
 
With the first dish, a glass of Cincinnato Castore Bellano.
 
As second dish, sea bream tartar style with froth of sea urchin. Very nice!
 
Pairing with the second and third dish, a glass of 2019 Tephrit Achkarren Grauer Burgunder from Michel.
 
As third dish, scallop with tandoori, goat's yoghurt and spicy pumpking.
 
As third dish, sea bass fried on bread with ratatouille and octopus. I'm not a fan of ratatouille, but this variation was perfect! Loved the dish!
 
With the sea bass, a glass of 2019 El Muelle Vino de Pasto from Luiz Perez. We enjoyed it very much!
 
Cod and smoked eel in green sauce. Delicious!

A glass of 2018 Bourgogne Chardonnay from Guy Amiot et Fils.
 
As sixth dish, calf's cheek and sweetbread with duck liver and truffle.
 
 With the dish,  a glass of Pinot Noir from Gebrüder Nittnaus.
 
As main dish, we asked if we could change the choice of the menu (lamb) and get the signature dish of Two Preparations of Langoustine instead. So the chef prepared a special version for us, and it was fantastic! One version with coconut and curry...

...the second with truffle. Great flavours, perfect choice!
 
With the langoustine, we had a glass of 2017 Gruener Veltliner Ried Muehlpoint from Weingut Alzinger. Very nice!
 
Sweet time! As dessert, Dutch strawberries, panna cotta and basil.
 
A glass of Manzoni Moscato Rosato Dolce from the winery Peruzzet. Perfect fit with the strawberry dessert!
 
To finish an excellent dinner, coffee and gourmandises.

The first time we have been in this restaurant, I had a very strong flu and a bit of fever, so I couldn't really enjoy the food. Happy to be back again to enjoy such an excellent dinner in a very beautiful setting. Love it!
