Restaurant Session (in Sint-Martens-Voeren): Hoeve de Bies

To celebrate Brazilian's Valentines Day, on June 12th, we went for dinner at restaurant Hoeve de Bies, from chef Maurice Huynen.

As aperitif, gin tonic with pink grapefruit tonic water from Fentimans.
 
With the aperitif, some appetizers.

After the aperitif, we went inside for dinner.

Bread and butter - with the excellent beurre noisette that I never resist :-)
 
As first starter, king crab with yuzu and kohlrabi.

With the first dish, a glass of 2019 Pouilly-fume from Domaine de Maltaverne.
 
As second dish, tuna and veal, piccalilly and capers.

With the lobster, a glass of 2019 Ratscher Morillon Startin from Gross.
 
As fourth dish, zander, leek, mussel and fennel.

With a cracker made of the zander skin.
 
Short rib and foie gras. So full of flavour!

With the short rib dish, a glass of 2018 Vinas de Gain from Bodegas Artadi.

For the main dish, we went off menu, and asked the sushi beef...

...fries and grilled salad. Absolutely loved the bearnaise sauce!
 
Sweet time! Cheesecake and vanilla ice cream.

Pairing with the dessert, a glass of 2019 Albalonga Auslese from Göhring.
 
To finish dinner, coffee and gourmandises in the beautiful terrace.
