A Boy With Two Fish

Saturday morning in Aachen's city center. Time to take a picture of the 'Manneken Pis' from Aachen: the 'Fischpüddelchen', located in the old fish market at the cathedral.

Dinner date with Roger at restaurant Sankt Benedikt✨ from chef Maximilian Kreus.

 

With the aperitif, a selection of appetizers.

 

Love this watermelon base.

 

As amuse bouche, gazpacho caviar with tomato white mousse. Delicious!

 

The vegetarian dishes are always a temptation! Zucchini with smoked bell peppers, sage and pine.

This dish is a revelation! Veal tartare, Prunier Imperial caviar and szechuan pepper. Amazing!

 

Cod fish, Tom Ka Gai ice cream (the best!), Pandan and Kaffir lime leaves. Always a highlight!

Restaurant Session (in Maasbracht, Netherlands): Da Vinci

On Saturday evening, we went to Maasbracht, in Netherlands.

Dinner at restaurant Da Vinci✨, from chef Margo Reuter.

 

Colorful plates.

 

As aperitif, a glass of Champagne Réserve Impériale from Moet and Chandon. 

 

With the aperitif, a selection of amuse bouche: macaron of carrots with tom kah gai and lemon, asparagus soup. Sonja krupuk with yuzu and leek.

 

Starting with the bread: a warm brioche.

 

We chose a la carte. I had the Salade Riche, with lobster, Pata Negra and foie gras. Very nice!

Came also with a side dish of lobster tempura.

Roger had the Duo "Pietjesveld": beef tartare, poached egg and filet américain.

After the brioche, more bread variations.

 

Sauté foie gras, caramelized apples on Calvados. The foie was very good, but the apples were cut in quite big sizes: I think it would have been more enjoyable if they were thin sliced instead.

As main dish, lobster tempura on saffron risotto and nage from losbster.

 And a lobster salad on toast. This was delicious!

Saturday lunch time at Sankt Benedikt! Always nice to enjoy the terrace in the Summer days :-)

 

As starter, tomato and mozzarella with pesto sauce.

 

Our main dish choice: poached eggs and potatoes.
