Restaurant Session (in De Haan, Belgium): Markt XI

On Tuesday evening, we went for dinner at restaurant Markt XI from chef Benny Van Torre.
 
I like very much the decoration.

...the terrace. 
 
As aperitif, sparkling wine, ginger and lime. So refreshing, excellent!
 
With the aperitif, some delicious bites. Cannelloni filled with Hereford beef and pickles.

Shrimps with cauliflower and dill. Love the flavours and textures.

North Sea crab with fennel and dill.

Smoked eel with leek and celeriac.

With dinner, we had a bottle of 2016 Dits Del Terra from Terroir Al Límit. We enjoyed very much!! 
 
As first starter, salmon with cucumber, basil and lemon.

 Beautiful presentation!
 
As third dish, turbot with asparagus, egg and caviar 'Imperial'. Very nice!

As main dish, 'Pyrenaen' lamb, zucchini, carrots and herbs.

Sweet time! 

Chocolate, rasberry, yuzu and pistachio.

With the dessert, a glass of 2022 Neumagener Laudamusber Riesling Auslese from Jüngling.
 
As second dessert, strawberry with rhubarb, yoghurt and hibiscus.

To finish an excellent dinner, coffee and gourmandises.
 
We enjoyed very much, always a joy to be back!!

Restaurant Session (in De Haan): Kok Sur Mer

For lunch, we went to restaurant Kok Sur Mer from chef Jean-Philippe Furnémont.
 
Our table. 
 
Bread and Beurre d'Isigny.
 
The amuse bouche: a tartlet and...
 
...a mushroom cappuccino.
 
We had the lunch menu of the day. As starter, cold velouté of peas with mint, 
[Velouté froid de petits pois | menthe | maquereau fumé | huile de pistache] 
 
With the starter, a glass of Chardonnay Côtes de Gascogne from Domaine Guillaman.
 
As main dish, grilled prawns with green asparagus, wild garlic butter and bintjes (they are middle-early ripening potatoes variety bred in the Netherlands).

With the shrimps, a glass of 2022 Korta Irune from Bodega y Viñedos Korta.
 
Finishing lunch with an espresso macchiato and cookies.

Walking on the Beach

 
We woke up on Tuesday morning on a grey and rainy day - actually, my favourite weather at the beach. After breakfast, we had a cozy time reading next to the fire place before...
 
...going out for a walk on the beach.
 
I left my havaianas at the beach hut and...
 
...went for a walk in the sand. Love it! 
 
Roger absolutely hates it, so he stayed waiting for me, protected from the rain😊
 
De Haan coast in a grey...

Restaurant Session (in De Hann, Belgium): Jef's Grill Restaurant

For lunch, we went to Jef's Grill restaurant.

A soup as a little amuse.
 
As a starter, we had the mini wagyu burgers. We got a bit disappointed - were expecting much more flavour from the meat.
 
As main dish, I had the picanha (hard to resist it when it is in the menu😊) with...
 
...mashed potatoes...
 

...salad and...

...Béarnaise sauce.

Walking Time (at the Belgian Coast)
