Restaurant Takeout: Rantrée

 For New Year's Evening, we went to...

...restaurant Rantrée, in Maastricht, to pick up...
 
...our dinner box. 
 
We ordered one box with meat/fish, the other box vegetarian. It contained 10 dishes - and just to emphasized, after the experience with those take-out boxes, I got a totally different appreciation for finalizing a dish and do the perfect plating - it is so much work (and art)!

Restaurant Takeout (from Köln): Pottking - Pastry Edition Part II

Restaurant Takeout (from Köln): Pottking - Pastry Edition

Inspired by the delicious post from @werthbiener in Instagram, we went to Köln to buy pastries from the restaurant Pottkind. They were not allowed to open the restaurant (still under Covid restrictions in Germany), but during the closure time, they opened a little (and delicious) pastry shop.

Rhabarber and Verbene tartelette: juicy, not too sweet, great cream filling. Excellent, we enjoyed it very much!

Tartelette aux fraise, with strawberries and elderberry mousse.
 
It tasted as good as it looks!

The raspberry macaron did not arrive well 
from the trip from Köln :-D

Restaurant Takeout: Lai Thai

Take out from our favorite Tai restaurant in Aachen: Lai Thai. I love their deep fried shrimp-chicken cakes with fried basil leaves. So good!

Restaurant Takeout (Special Edition Crossing Borders): La Becasse (Part 2)

In the evening, we finished our Easter menu (actually, our second Easter menu, hihihi). Veal rib eye with asparagus, old Beemster cheese, truffle, new (harvest) potatoes in apple balsamic.

Strong cheese with Pumpernickel crumbles.

Restaurant Takeout (Special Edition Crossing Borders): La Becasse

For Easter lunch (and also to support the restaurants during the time they had to remain close during Covid), we ordered a Crossing Borders box: a menu done by the restaurants Vivendum, La Becasse, Cafe Sjiek and Sofa Maastricht.

All the dishes separately packed, including the baguette from La Becasse (that warms up perfectly in the oven).
 
Looking forward to it!
 
Foie gras with rhubarb, honey and crispy toast.
[Gänseleber mit Rhabarber, und Honig]
 
 Beef tartar in cold tomato reduction (beef tomato) with cucumber cream, pointed cabbage and popped quinoa.
[Fleischtomate mit Gurkencrème, Spitzkohl und gepufftem Quinoa]

Atlantic lobster with leek and salmon caviar involved in a rice paper, with kaffir lime and asiatic sauce [Ausgelöster Atlantikhummer mit Lauch und Lachscaviar im Reisblatt mit Kaffirlimette und asiatischer Sauce]
 
After these two starters, we decided to do the same as the day before: the main dish was kept for dinner. But we didn't skip dessert :-)

Wine Time

Included in the Easter takeout from Sankt Benedikt, a (non-alcoholic) bottle of PriSecco, from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger.

It tastes good! With strawberry, elderflower and woodruff. The colour fits...
 
...with today's amazing sunset!

For dinner, the main dish of our Easter takeout: fillet of beef, green beans and potato gratin.

Time for dessert! Anise-almond biscuit cake with rhubarb sauce. Very nice combination!

Restaurant Takeout (Special Easter Edition): Sankt Benedikt

Sankt Benedikt did a special takeout lunch for Easter - as shown in the bag :-) However, you had to pick it up on Saturday (one day before Easter) and...mmm... let's say that we didn't resist to wait another day :-D
 
As it was an entire menu, we decided to split it up and have it half as lunch, half as dinner :-)

For lunch, as first starter, yellow tail mackerel with avocado and cucumber. Great flavor, very nice combination of textures!
 
As second starter, asparagus soup. And, yes, it shows that I am not very talented in the art of plating - and I'm really, really looking forward to the restaurants reopening again :-)

These two starters were perfect for our Saturday lunch - looking forward to dinner!

Restaurant Takeout (in Köln): Le Moissonnier

 This time we picked up our dinner in Köln: take out from restaurant Le Moissonnier

A bag full of...

 ...little glass pots and goodies - did not expect an oven mitt :-)

 To start, an aperitif: bloody mary shot.
[Unser Bloody Mary-Shot: Basilikum, Rosmarin, Thymian, Tomaten, Knoblauch, Piment d'Espelette, Selleriesalz, Vodka]
 
As first dish, green peas and mint cold soup with North Sea crabs and snap peas.
[Erbsen-Minz Kaltschale mit Nordseekrabeen und Zuckerschoten. Erbsen, Nordssekrabben, Zuckerschoten, Fond Blanc, Sahne, Joghurt, Olivenöl, Limette, Kräuter, Zucker, Salz]

 
As second dish, mousse from smoked trout with apple salad, cucumber and radish, topped with smoked salmon. Very nice combination!

The third dish: Leipziger Allerlei. Spring vegetables in bouillon, and ravioli filled with crayfish and chicken.
[Leipziger Allerlei - Frühlingsgemüse in Bouillon und Ravioli gefüllt mit Flusskrebsen und Poularde. Blumenkohl, Romanesco, Brokkoli, Karotten, Kohlrabi, grüner Spargel, Poularde, Flusskrebse, Ingwer, Meerrettich, Butter, Mehl, Eier, Grieß, Gewürze, Kräuter, Salz]

As fourth dish, stockfish brandade with tomato-rougail. 
 [Stockfisch-Brandade mit Tomaten-Rougail. Stockfisch, Milch, Butter, Olivenöl, Kartoffeln, Knoblauch, Muskatnuss, Limetten Zesten, Pankomehl, Piment d'Espelette]

Loved the crunchy top of the brandade and the mix of flavours: delicious!
 
As main dish, sauté from veal printanier with potato, asparagus and wild garlic fondue.
[Sauté vom Kalb Printanier. Kalbsbrust, aromatische Garnitur, Kalbsfond, Knoblauch, Thymian, Rosmarin, Lorbeer, Weißwein. 
As side dish, Spargel-Kartoffel Fondue mit Bärlauch. Spargel, Kartoffeln, Milch, Sahne, Butter, Bärlauch]

Time for dessert! Yogurt mousse with strawberry, pistachio biscuit and müsli crumbles. Delicious, very refreshing!
[Joghurtmousse mit Erdbeeren, Pistazien Biskuit und Müsli-Crumble. Joghurt, Sahne, Erdbeeren, Gelatine, Zucker, PIstazien, Mehl, Müsli, Ei]

And the gourmandises, including a hazelnut cake.

It was good, but I definitely miss being at the restaurant, enjoying the atmosphere and having the dish perfectly plated (that is definitely an art!). Hope everything goes back to normal again soon!

Restaurant Takeout: The Ash Steak House

 Take out night! Burger and...

...sweet potatoes fries from The Ash. Unfortunately the restaurant is not so close to our home (and they don't deliver to where we live) so when we arrived, it was a bit cold. But the taste was good.
